Ron
Burgess - Double Sided Buffalo Drum - $675
Non-native Ron Burgess was raised in Hoquiam, Wa. As a young man, Ron
felt a calling to embrace the native culture. Born to a family of woodsmen
on the Olympic Peninsula, he was able to explore his surroundings, making
Indian headdresses and searching for arrowheads. His adult life was
centered around his talent for working with his hands. After years in
the construction trades, he retired to travel the haunting beauty of
Arizona and New Mexico. It was than his love of Indian mystery returned.
He began making arrowheads and acquiring Indian artwork. Now Ron manufactures
the beautiful double-sided drums using intuition and his belief in things
from the past as the true meaning of his early beginning. He is still
searching for his spirit, though no one in his family has any doubt
from where it came. His drums are used in many pow-wows as you can have
up to four persons drumming at the same time. "It is my desire you enjoy
this creation as much as I enjoyed creating it."
